Role:
Perform AVP of Accounting responsibilities for the Credit Union. Ensure that all Credit Union financial records are properly accounted for and display integrity; consistency; and follow generally accepted accounting practices and regulatory rules and regulations. Perform various financial analyses for management, Board of Directors, and outside agencies.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
E 10% 1. Under the guidance of VP of Finance, ensure all general ledger accounts are reconciled timely, accurately, and according to procedure including accounts related to any new products or services. This includes account reconciliations; investment accounting tasks; general ledger balancing; subsidiary report balancing; financial investment services accounting; shared branching settlement and balancing; fixed asset accounting and reconciliation; budget accruals and prepaid expense accounting and reconciliation.
E 4% 2. Provide user administration assistance within the Symitar Episys general ledger accounting system as required to include General Ledger and Accounts Payable modules. Maintain a highly proficient working knowledge within the Episys accounting software and provide training to all users.
N 1% 3. Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for Symitar Episys accounting software system. Make recommendations for efficiencies and ensure software remains relevant and up to date.
E 4% 4. Assist VP of Finance in the preparation of timely and accurate internal and external reporting including: Asset Liability Management (ALM) Committee financial reports; Board of Director's financial reports; subsidiary ledger balancing reports; Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) Collateral reports; NCUA 5300 quarterly reports and other regulatory reports as required. Ensure the presentation of all financial statements is in accordance with GAAP.
E 1% 5. As directed by VP of Finance, provide timely and accuracy information to Millennium Corporate Credit Union for the preparation of ALM reports and analysis. Provide reports and participates in ALCO Committee meetings as requested by the VP of Finance

N 1% 7. Perform activities related to the accounting for investments as directed by VP of Finance
E 10% 8. Lead, coach and supervise Finance Operations Staff. Ensure training, establish goals and objectives, monitor and evaluate performance, and provide guidance as needed to achieve objectives. Ensure adherence to core values. Communicate new information and or policy changes to staff person.
Regularly coach employees for superior performance or for performance improvement.
E 10% 9.
N 4% 10. Support the Accounting Manager in reviewing the general ledger for accuracy before closing the financial statements, the determination to close the books and closing out the month on Episys core system. Work with Accounting Manager to research variances.
N 4% 11. Assist VP of Finance as directed with funds management by providing regular liquidity reporting and maintaining line of credit contracts.
N 2% 12. Work in conjunction with Accounting Manager and Assist VP of Finace in working with outside professionals such as the NCUA; FHLB; Federal Reserve; and various other external Audit Firms.
N 5% 13. Conduct one-on-one meetings with each direct-report employee. Clearly communicate personal, department, and credit union goals and the progress in attaining them. Follow-up on all discussions, issues, and questions that arise during meetings.
N 2% 14. Take lead or participate in special projects directly related to theFinance department and those of other departments. Additionally, provide financial updates and informative sessions for middle managers when appropriate.
E 8% 16. Assist Accounting Manager in the development, updating, communicating and ensuring compliance with Accounting policies and procedures.
E 10% 17. In conjunction with Accounting Manager and with guidance from VP of Finance, perform monthly estimation, accounting and reporting for Allowance for Loan and Lease Losses in accordance with GAAP and other regulations. This includes proper accounting for repossessed assets, charge-offs and recoveries. Ensures the maintenance and accuracy of ALLL Accounting model.

N 4% 19. Oversee the initiation of all member wire transfers and ACH debit/credit processing. Work with Operations, Lending and other teams to provide both direct and indirect service/support to members concerning all electronic transfers types.

N 4% 21. Exercises authority over areas of responsibility with regard to accounting controls and general ledger integrity and accountability.
N 4% 22. Direct all resolution disputes concerning Intrepid Credit Union issued debit and credit cards. Ensure plastic card chargebacks are performed timely and accurately. Provide direct and indirect member service as required for effective card dispute resolution.
N 4% 23. Performs all duties and complete assigned training in compliance with credit union policies and appropriate regulatory statutes, including BSA regulations and those that correspond with their specific job duties.

Knowledge and Skills:
Experience Five to Seven years of similar or related experience.
Education (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).
Interpersonal Skills Motivating or influencing others is a material part of the job. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others. The role requires a significant level of trust or diplomacy.
