The Town of Eagle is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Building Official to lead our Building Department and help us maintain the safety, beauty, and integrity of our growing community. About the Role: As Building Official, you’ll be responsible for overseeing all building inspections, plan reviews, code compliance, and permit issuance. You’ll serve as the town’s go-to expert on building safety and code enforcement while managing a small but mighty team. This position is ideal for someone who thrives on variety—whether you're inspecting commercial sites, advising contractors, presenting to town trustees, or reviewing new development plans, no two days are the same.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the building department and supervise inspection staff and permit technicians
- Perform detailed field and office inspections for residential and commercial properties
- Review construction plans for compliance with local, state, and national codes
- Investigate code violations and unsafe structures; issue corrective actions as needed
- Work closely with the Community Development Team to ensure land use code compliance
- Provide expert advice to contractors, homeowners, and public officials
- Keep current with code changes and attend public meetings as required

- Technological proficiency in using inspection software, databases, and Microsoft Office tools

Requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of four (4) years of building inspection experience
- ICC certifications (plans examiner, inspector, plumbing, mechanical, or building official)
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, Public Administration, or related field
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory motor vehicle record
- Familiarity with municipal planning and development processes is a plus
