Barr-Tech Compost is Eastern Washington’s largest composting facility, managing thousands of inbound and outbound truckloads each year while diverting organic waste from landfills and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Our professionally operated, large-scale facility produces consistent, premium-quality compost used throughout the Spokane region by landscapers, agricultural operations, and homeowners alike.
As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a Yard Operations Supervisor or Manager who thrives in a hands-on environment, enjoys leading people, and takes pride in keeping complex operations running smoothly.
About the Role
This is a key leadership position overseeing day-to-day compost production operations. You’ll work closely with management, equipment, systems, and people to ensure safety, efficiency, and product quality—while helping drive continuous improvement across the yard.
What You’ll Do
Provide direct supervision and technical guidance to yard staff
Coordinate daily operations involving heavy equipment and production flow
Clearly communicate management goals, priorities, and expectations
Communicate, demonstrate, and enforce safety requirements and best practices
Regularly evaluate yard operations and scheduling to maximize efficiency
Identify and troubleshoot issues to keep operations running smoothly
Lead by example while fostering teamwork, accountability, and a positive work culture
Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, outdoor work environment
Use mobile technology and operational tools, or be willing to learn, to improve communication and efficiency
Perform additional duties as needed to support evolving operational and management needs
Requirements

Education & Experience
High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
5+ years of personnel supervision
5+ years of heavy equipment operation experience
