SUPERVISOR OF ACCOUNTING
DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES
FINANCE DIVISION
Number of Positions: 1
(Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval)
Starting Salary: $97,332

Under general supervision, functions as a supervisor directing the work of professional staff in an accounting unit, and performs related duties as required
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Supervise two Lead Accountants, three Accountants, and one Accounting Technician maintaining financial records for grant programs.
• Lead and coordinate the Accounting staff through the review process of the federal grant application.
• Ensure that budgets and expenditures are reporting accurately based on compliance and regulations given from governmental entities (federal, state, and local).
• Review and authorize program operational budgets submitted by grantee delegate agencies and reviewed by Accountants.
• Oversee the processes of the setup and maintenance of various annual grant funds in the Oracle Financial Management and Purchasing System.
• Monitor the approval flow of the EA system for upcoming delegate contracts. Review and approve budget revisions routed through the Caspio eSmart Contracts management system.
• Meet with Senior Management team to discuss overall grant activity, professional development, and financial reporting.
• Review iSupplier process to ensure that delegate invoices are being submitted accurately and in a timely manner.
• Review various grant deadlines and ensure all financial related activity is accurate with accounting systems.
Additional duties may be required for this position.
Location: 16156 W. Chicago Ave. Chicago IL
Days: Monday-Friday
Hours: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm or 9:00am to 5:00 pm

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, plus four (4) years of professional accounting experience, of which one (1) year is in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, OR
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a field directly related to Accounting with 15 semester hours in Accounting, plus four (4) years of professional accounting experience, of which one (1) year is in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, OR
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree or higher in Accounting, plus three (3) years of professional accounting experience, of which one (1) year is in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, OR
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree or higher in a field directly related to Accounting with 15 semester hours in Accounting, plus three (3) years of professional accounting experience, of which one (1) year is in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS
This position requires applicants to complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral parts of the interview will be selected.
Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:
• Previous accounting experience in a government setting.
• Previous experience using accounting related reporting systems.
• Previous experience in municipal accounting, reconciliation, & maintenance of ledgers, preparation of financial statements, special assessment accounting or governmental fund accounting.
• Proficiency in auditing techniques, financial management, budget and cost analysis or forecasting principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software.
